What do you want to be when you grow up?
"A cake decorator" replied 10 year old Kirsten after winning first place with her first ever decorated cake (pictured bellow). Fast forward 15 years and that's when Kirsten started to fulfil her childhood dream as a cake decorator. All through high school Kirsten chose every Home Economics class possible to study, along with Studio Arts and Visual Communication classes. When she graduated from high school in 2004 Kirsten moved to Melbourne to study a Certificate IV in Hospitality Patisserie at William Angliss Institute of Tafe. Upon completion of this two year course Kirsten worked for a popular cake manufacturing company in the decorating department for 5 years. A move to Toowoomba Qld in 2011 is where she finally got the chance to delve into the world of wedding cake decorating at Merivale Cakes and Crafts, owned by Mary Reid; an award winning decorator. Kirsten completed a number of training classes as well as gaining invaluable hands on experience.
In 2015 Kirsten opened her doors for the first time as Cake Couture by Kirsten in Townsville QLD and is now continuing operation in Brisbane, Queensland.
Kirsten prides herself on offering elegant couture cakes that are always received with open mouths.
